Finding My "Wow" Colors: How a Color Analysis Transformed My Closet

I recently had the most unexpected yet powerful experience that’s completely changed how I approach my wardrobe. I booked a color season analysis with Nicole Kaczmarek in Seattle, and what I thought would be a fun, lighthearted experience turned out to be a game-changer for both my style and my organizing mindset.

If you’re unfamiliar, a color season analysis is a process where a trained consultant helps you identify which colors naturally enhance your skin tone, hair, and eye color. Through a series of fabric drapes, Nicole revealed that I’m a Winter — a season known for bold, bright, cool, and jewel-toned colors.

As Nicole showed me my "wow" colors — navy, dark emerald, and burgundy among them — I felt an incredible sense of relief. Suddenly, I had clarity. Those pieces I’d been holding onto because I might wear them someday? I could finally let them go without guilt. Knowing what truly flatters me made those lingering "maybe" pieces much easier to part with.

Nicole also gave me a travel-sized color swatch deck featuring my wow colors — a powerful little tool that’s already transformed how I shop and how I make decisions about what stays in my closet. Now, instead of feeling paralyzed when I’m unsure about an item, I pull out my swatch deck, compare the color, and trust the answer. No more second-guessing. No more hanging onto clothes that just aren’t quite right.

If you’ve been feeling stuck with your wardrobe — or just overwhelmed by decisions — I can’t recommend a color analysis enough. And if you’re in the Seattle area, I highly recommend Nicole Kaczmarek. You can find her at House of Colour - Seattle.

This experience also reminded me of the advice I shared in my earlier post about 3 Tips to Clean Out Your Closet with Confidence — and now I have one more tip to add: Knowing your wow colors makes decluttering so much easier. If you’re ready to refine your wardrobe and create a space that truly supports you, I’d love to help you get started. Let’s make room for clothes that make you feel incredible.
